Tubbenden Primary School

International Links

Tubbenden’s International links are rapidly developing. In September 2017, our Maths leader visited schools in Shanghai to find out further about their teaching and learning of mathematics. In February 2018 Chinese teachers from Shanghai spent two weeks at Tubbenden modelling lessons and talking to staff about the teaching of mathematics.

In January 2019 we liaised with Orpington Mandarin School to host twenty-one Chinese students from Beijing Mingyan School. For three days the students joined their buddies in Years four, five and six. A special welcome assembly was held in the presence of the Mayor of  Bromley. A farewell assembly on the Friday included dance and musical performances from both Chinese and Tubbenden students. It was an excellent opportunity for the Chinese students to immerse themselves in the English language, culture and education. Our student’s education was enriched by this international element, learning about the Chinese culture, practising Mandarin and having the opportunity to make international friends.
